MacKinnon's fiscal is a grey-backed fiscal with prominent white scapulars and no white patch in the primaries. Its Tanzanian range is an area west and southwest of Lake Victoria. The females (chestnut flank) were seen at Lake Bulera (3rd row right, 9-09), Buhanga Forest (lower left, 1-06), both courtesy of Marcell Claassen, and Lake Bunyonyi (right lower, 2-10), courtesy of Karine Van der Vurst.
