The straw-tailed whydah is a northeast African endemic that parasitizes the purple grenadier. The flying bird was photographed on the Asogati Plain in April 2006. The left middle breeding male was seen at Shambarai swamp in May 2008. The right images were made in Olasiti in May 2004 and the bottom image, at Lake Eyasi in February 2008, courtesy of Karine Van der Vurst.
