The red-and-yellow barbets are common in dry treed and bushed grassland and are often seen around termite mounds and picnic grounds as in several of these images. The female has a speckled crown (on the left in above image) while the male crown is black. Juveniles are similar to adults except the red is paler (slideshow image 9).
