The black-winged bishop is a large bishop (12 cm) that older field guides call the black-winged red bishop or the fire-crowned bishop. These birds were all seen at Ushongo, a bit south of Pangani, Mtwara and at the base of the Nguru Mountains. The images show the diagnostic red rump and red head with color extending to the edge of the upper mandible.
