The thick-billed cuckoo is an uncommonly seen canopy dweller especially in southern, western and coastal forests. The upper bird was was photographed in the Msumbugwe Forest Reserve in April 2010. Note the yellow eye ring and banded tail. The juvenile in the lower image was seen in Dar es Salaam (2-12), courtesy of Riaan Marais.
