The rufous naped lark has rufous wings and crest and a short tail. The ssp. nigrescens in southwestern Tanzania is darker than the nominate race and the breast streaking extends onto the flanks (both 2nd row photos, Kitulo NP, courtesy of Paul Oliver). The bird with outstretched wings was at Ndutu (5-15), courtesy of Siegfried Woldhek.
