The subantarctic or brown skua is a rare visitor to the East African coast. These photos and video were taken on Fanjove Island, courtesy of Pietro Ciotti. The bird weighed 1.2 kg initially, 1.6 on release; wing length, 40 cm; tail, 17 cm; and the beak, 5cm. The race is probably lonnbergi.
