The levant sparrowhawk is a very rare migrant in November and December in East Africa. Preferred habitat is said to be drier bush country and woodland. This juvenile was seen in Ngorongoro Crater on November 22, 2011, courtesy of Stein Ø. Nilsen. Note the dark (chocolate) brown color, the vertical black throat line, and, in particular, the dark iris. See Stein's blog for more information about the sighting.
