Cinnyris tsavoensis
Home Alphabetical Taxonomic Comments

The Tsavo sunbird is an east African endemic similar to the purple-banded sunbird; however, it has a narrower purple breast band (sometimes absent) and a smaller bill. This pair (male, left) was photographed at Landanai (Maasai Steppe) in April 2009, courtesy of Paul Oliver. Roll your cursor over the enlargement to see another view of the female and note the tail color.
