The gull-billed tern is a palearctic migrant in East Africa from August to April. The top photo (Lake Magadi, 2-17) is courtesy of Paul Oliver. The non-breeding birds in the 2nd row were photographed at Lake Burunge (left, 9-12) and Pembe Abwe (1-08). The photo with zebras was in the Serengeti (1-18). The middle bird was photographed at Lake Albert (Uganda) (1-10), courtesy of Karine Van der Vurst. The breeding bird in the lower photo was in Pangani (8-10), courtesy of Valéry Schollaert. The enlargements include a photo comparing common, lesser crested and gull-billed terns.
