The white-headed buffalo-weaver is a northeastern Africa endemic. The Tanzanian race boehmi has a black tail; the nominate race in Kenya has a brown tail. Interbreeding occurs where territories overlap; note the brownish tail in slideshow image #2 from Tarangire. Common in acacia bush and wooded grassland. All of these photos were taken in Tarangire.
