The adult Meyer's, formerly brown, parrot has yellow band across the forehead and yellow shoulders. A yellow underwing patch shows in flight. The 3rd row photo is courtesy of Amos Pampy Hardecker. These photos were taken in Tarangire, Serengeti, Yaida Valley, Maswa WR and Katavi. Click the bottom photo to see enlargements including an immature and nest excavation.

In the enlargement photos #9-13 the pair was excavating a nest cavity. They traded places approximatelyevery 10 minutes. When time was up, the one inside would fly out and give a single note call; the other would then fly to the nest, go inside and the cycle would repeat.
