The Tsavo sunbird is an east African endemic similar to the purple-banded sunbird; however, it has a narrower purple breast band (sometimes absent) and a smaller bill. The upper bird was seen in Kidapash-Shambarai; the 2nd row, at Nyumba ya Mungu, courtesy of Per Holmen; the 3rd row, at Mererani, courtesy of Frank Priscus Shirima. The right 4th row bird was seen in Mkomazi NP, courtesy of Kim Axmann. The netted pair was photographed at Landanai (Maasai Steppe), courtesy of Paul Oliver. Click the male to see 12 enlargements.
