Saunder's tern in non-breeding plumage is difficult to separate from little tern. The three black outer primaries, dark grey back and the square-ish black patch around the eye suggest likely Saunder's. This flight photo was taken at Ushongo (1-16), courtesy of Paul Oliver. We felt he middle and bottom photos are likely Saunders (Maziwe, 11-17), but little possible. |
