Saunder's tern in non-breeding plumage is difficult to separate from little tern. The three black outer primaries, dark grey back and the square-ish black patch around the eye suggest likely Saunder's. This flight photo was taken at Ushongo, courtesy of Paul Oliver. We felt he middle and bottom photos are likely Saunders (Maziwe), but little possible. |
