The speckle-throated woodpecker, also called Reichenow's woodpecker, is a northeast African endemic. Note the yellow lower mandible, the finely speckled throat and the more coarsely speckled moustachial stripe. The upper photo (Emayani) is courtesy of Hanna Nyman.
