These photos of white-headed lapwings were taken in Ruaha and Selous; the upper photo is courtesy of Stuart Webb. Its preferred habitat is sandy banks along rivers or sandbars. The white breast is one of the features that separates it from the African wattled lapwing which has a brown breast. Click the photo above to see 14 enlargements including flight and a mating pair.
