Greater frigatebirds may be seen along the Tanzanian coast, usually from August to December. The top photo of a male was taken at Moku Manu (O'ahu, 11-15). The 2nd row photo is of a juvenile greater frigatebird. The next three photos (row 3) are of immature females transitioning to adult plumage. The bottom three birds in flight are adult females; those photos were all taken at Bird Island in the Seychelles (10-10), courtesy of Paul Oliver. The left lower photo of a perched frigatebird with prey in its throat was taken at Ras Ndege (about 20 km south of Dar es Salaam, 12-13), courtesy of Cyrille Giardin; click it to see several enlargements.
