The grey-headed kingfisher is found throughout Tanzania in woodland and bush, often near water. The right 2nd row photo is of an immature (Lake Manyara, 3-10). The right 1st & 3rd row adults were seen in Tarangire. The left 2nd row photo was taken at Silale swamp (7-14), courtesy of Stefan Hitz. The rest of the birds were photographed at Lake Manyara and Tarangire. The lower four photos show an adult foraging and then feeding young in a ground cavity nest.
