The grey-headed kingfisher is found throughout Tanzania in woodland and bush, often near water. The right 2nd row photo is of an immature (Lake Manyara). The right 1st & 3rd row adults were seen in Tarangire. The left 2nd row photo was taken at Silale swamp, courtesy of Stefan Hitz. The rest of the birds were photographed at Lake Manyara and Tarangire. The lower four photos show an adult foraging and then feeding young in a ground cavity nest.
