The thick-billed or grosbeak weaver is wide-spread, found usually near reed beds. Images 1 & 2 in the slideshow are females and 3 & 4 are juveniles. Image 20 is of a juvenile in a nest. The rest are males in different stages of nest building. Most nests are attached to reeds (image 19); however, note image 14 of a nest being built in a fruit tree adjacent to the pond in the Gibbs Farm garden.
