Most of the slideshow images of Kittlitz's plover were made while the birds were foraging at the edge of Lake Magadi in Ngorongoro Crater . Most are in breeding plumage with the characteristic dark black head markings which are replaced in non-breeding season with sepia color. The flock in flight was seen at Lake Manyara, courtesy of Paul Oliver. The 5th row bird was seen on the Laikipia Plateau-Kenya, courtesy of Karine Van der Vurst. The 4th row photo and the bird with nest and an egg were at Ndutu, courtesy of Siegfried Woldhek. The nest with eggs (Kidawashi) is courtesy of Frank Priscus Shirima. The other photos were taken at Ndutu, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara.
